Film Text: Sunset Boulevard

Much of the material for this lecture overlaps with that covered in the Introduction to the C35 programme: Dismantling the Apparatus.  This lecture will cover the same ground, then focus on close analysis of two extracts from the film, which will enunciate how the text articulates the elements of sight and sound, constructing a dialectic around the aesthetics of 'talkies' and silent film - finally reflecting on the medium of moving pictures themselves.
