Take a closer look at routes into Higher Education.

An Access course is designed specifically for adults who do not necessarily have the formal qualifications to gain entrance to a degree course.  The objective is to reach university entrance level in one academic year.  The course is ratified by the Open College Network, assessed through credits at levels 1, 2 and 3.  Level 2 is roughly equivalent to GCSE and level 3 broadly equates with A level.

At City of Bristol College the Access course entails three main subject options (usually morning sessions).  One or two afternoons a week are also required for Core Studies (in Maths, Communications and Study Skills).

Your main subject options offer 5 credit opportunities each, and a further 11 credits are available from Core Studies, an Independent Study and a single exam (in an area closest to your subject option at university).

To pass the Access course you have to gain 20 credits - 15 of which must be at level 3.
